FIT 2016

 

14th International Conference on Frontiers of Information Technology (FIT 2016) was held on Dec 19-21 at Islamabad Pakistan. The conference theme was “Internet of Things (IoT)”. It was technically sponsored by IEEE Islamabad Section, IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, and IEEE Computer Society (Technical Committee on Scalable Computing). The proceedings of the conference have been published in IEEE Xplore. Technical Sessions were composed of oral presentations of the research papers and invited talks by national and international speakers. We received 330 technical paper submissions out of which 65 were selected for oral presentation, along with 14 PhD symposia, after a thorough and blind review process yielding an acceptance rate of 22%. A total of 1021 reviews were completed by 370 reviewers from different universities of Pakistan and abroad. The authors came from different countries as well as from all four provinces of Pakistan. A total of 35 technical sessions were organized and were chaired by renowned academicians. These sessions were a clear cut indication that research culture in our academic institutions is on upward pace. A total of 40 invited talks were delivered on the latest trends in the areas of Computing and Electrical Engineering. Besides this, 03 tutorials/workshops were conducted.

 

FIT 2016 was a blend of different events comprising of Key Note address, Technical Sessions including Invited Talks, Tutorials, Workshops, PhD Symposium, Best IT Innovation Award (BITA), Project Exhibition and Panel Discussion.

 

The key note address was delivered by Professor Dr. Hermann Maurer from Graz University of Technology, Austria. The title of the key note address was “New Technologies have the Potential to Change our Lives Completely”, which was thought provoking and full of ideas. The conference concluded with a panel discussion on “IoT: Challenges, Opportunities, and Prospects"

 

FIT 2015

 

13th International Conference on Frontiers of Information Technology (FIT 2015) was held on Dec 14 ~ 16, 2015 at Islamabad Pakistan. This was the thirteenth consecutive year that COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, CIIT, was organizing this event. The information technology has changed not only individual lives but societies are emerging to be built on technology, knowledge and intelligence. Appropriate use of knowledge contributes to raising the quality of life. Advances in theoretical understanding of information technologies and their widespread development and implementations are causing transformations in the areas as diverse as healthcare, science, entertainment, government, commerce, international trade, education, research and many others. This year the conference theme was “Smart University: Myths and Realities”. It was technically sponsored by IEEE Islamabad Chapter, IEEE Computer Society and IEEE Industrial Electronics Society(IEEE Link).

 

Technical Sessions were composed of oral presentations of the research papers and invited talks by national and international speakers. We received 288 technical paper submissions out of which 62 were selected for oral presentation, along with 07 PhD symposia, after a thorough and blind review process yielding an acceptance rate of 24%. A total of 800 reviews were completed by 325 reviewers from different universities of Pakistan and abroad. The authors came from different countries as well as from all four provinces of Pakistan. The conference spanned over 31 technical sessions which were chaired by renowned academicians. These sessions were a clear cut indication that research culture in our academic institutions is on upward pace.

 

The key note address was delivered by Professor Dr. Sajal K. Das from Missouri University of Science and Technology, USA, titled, “Beyond Cyber-Physical Era: What's Next”, which was thought provoking and full of ideas. A total of 31 invited talks were delivered on the latest trends in the areas of computing and electrical engineering. Besides this, 04 tutorials/workshops were conducted. The conference concluded with a panel discussion on “Smart University, Myths and Realities”. The panelists expose’ has provided direction and targets for policy makers.

 

FIT 2014

 

12th International Conference on Frontiers of Information Technology (FIT 2014 ) was held on Dec 17 ~ 19, 2014 at Islamabad Pakistan. This was the twelfth consecutive year that COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, CIIT, was organizing this event. Information Technology has played a vital role in the past few decades and reshaped social standards among human beings. The conference theme was “Smart Cities”. It was technically sponsored by IEEE Islamabad Chapter, IEEE Computer Society and IEEE Industrial Electronics Society(IEEE Link).

 

Technical Sessions were composed of oral presentations of the research papers and invited talks by national and international speakers. We received 309 technical paper submissions out of which 68 were selected for oral presentation, along with 04 PhD symposia, after a thorough and blind review process yielding an acceptance rate of 22%. A total of 804 reviews were completed by 315 reviewers from different universities of Pakistan and abroad. The authors came from different countries as well as from all four provinces of Pakistan. A total of 31 technical sessions were organized chaired by renowned academicians. These sessions were a clear cut indication that research culture in our academic institutions is on upward pace. A total of 27 invited talks were delivered on the latest trends in the areas of computing and electrical engineering. Besides this, 07 tutorials/workshops were conducted.

 

FIT 2013

 

11th International Conference on Frontiers of Information Technology (FIT’ 13) was held on Dec 16 ~ 18, 2013 at Serena hotel Islamabad Pakistan. This was the 11th consecutive year that COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, CIIT, was organizing this event. Information Technology has played a vital role in the past few decades and reshaped social standards among human beings. The conference was technically sponsored by IEEE Islamabad Chapter, IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, and IEEE   Computer Society Technical Committee on Scalable Computing.
The FIT13 was attended by world renowned scholars and researchers from different parts of the world including USA, UK, China, Australia, Kuwait, Austria, Estonia and Pakistan. In order to take full advantage of their ideas and research, the conference was divided into technical sessions. Each session was composed of oral presentations of the research papers and invited talks by national and international speakers. FIT13 received 203 submissions out of which 58 were selected for oral presentation, along with 05 PhD symposia, after a thorough and blind review process yielding an acceptance rate of 28.50 %.

 FIT 2012

10th International Conference on Frontiers of Information Technology (FIT’ 12) was held on Dec 17 ~ 19, 2012 at Islamabad Pakistan. This was the tenth consecutive year that COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, CIIT, was organizing this event. Information Technology has played a vital role in the past few decades and reshaped social standards among human beings. The conference theme was “Information Technology in human and social perspective”. It was technically sponsored by IEEE Islamabad Chapter, IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, and IEEE   Computer Society Technical Committee on Scalable Computing.

Technical Sessions were composed of oral presentations of the research papers and invited talks by national and international speakers. We received 286 submissions out of which 64 were selected for oral presentation, along with 05 PhD symposia, after a thorough and blind review process yielding an acceptance rate of 24.12 %. A total of 726 reviews were completed by reviewers from different universities of Pakistan and abroad. The authors came from different countries as well as from all four provinces of Pakistan. A total of 22 technical sessions were organized chaired by renowned academicians. These sessions were a clear cut indication that research culture in our academic institutions is on upward pace. A total of 33 invited talks were delivered on the latest trends in the areas of computing and electrical engineering. Besides this, 03 tutorials and 05 PhD symposia were presented.

 

FIT 2011

FIT 11 was held on December 19~21, 2011, at Islamabad Pakistan. The proceedings of the conference are published in IEEE Xplore and IEEE Computer Society Digital libraries. A total of 235 submissions from all over the world were received and 64 papers were accepted for oral presentation after a thorough and blind review process hence yielding an acceptance rate of 27%. A total of 669 reviews were completed by 229 reviewers belonging to different national and international universities.  FIT 2011 was technically co-sponsored by IEEE and IEEE   Computer Society Technical Committee on Scalable Computing.
