Title Mathematical Modeling of Flow in the Proximal Tubule of the Kidney

One of the most important functions of the kidney is to maintain the right amount of chemicals, minerals and fluid in the body and flush out the extra amount of fluid along with harmful material and waste in the form of urine. In this study, we model the slow flow through the proximal tubule of the kidney by considering the various forms of wall reabsorption. The two dimensional model describes the various types of reabsorptions where the velocity of the tubule walls behaves like an elementary function such as constant, linear, exponential and periodic. The objective of this study is to search for exact solutions to the stokes flow subject to appropriate boundary conditions. Mathematical expressions for velocity components, volume flux and pressure distribution are presented explicitly.
