Title Socially-Aware Networking: Towards Efficient Data Delivery in Mobile Social Networks
Abstract

With the increasing prevalence of mobile social networks, today’s mobile networks are becoming increasingly human centric. The mobility patterns of mobile devices strongly depend on the users’ movements, which are closely related to their social relationships and behaviors. As a consequence, the field of socially-aware networking is emerging as a new paradigm to exploit the social properties of network nodes (especially mobile devices) for designing networking solutions. This emerging paradigm is applicable to various types of networks (e.g. mobile social networks, opportunistic networks, delay tolerant networks, ad hoc networks, etc) where the users have social relationships and interactions. By exploiting social properties of nodes, socially-aware networking can provide better networking support to innovative applications and services. In this talk, I will give a brief overview of the state of the art in socially-aware networking. Some recent advances in this field will be introduced. This talk will end with discussions on open issues.
