|Title||Internet of Things (IoT) Reality Check: Devices, Networks and Platforms|
The ‘Internet of Things (IoT)’ is a popular topic of discussion and has a potential to reshape the way we live and work today. On the flip side, like any other industry buzzwords, IoT has gained a lot of attention which takes it to the ‘peak of inflated expectations’ in the hype cycle. In this talk, I will provide a reality check on IoT with real examples where IoT is revolutionising the industries. We will also discuss what it takes to transform a ‘thing’ to become a ‘smart thing’ with brief overview of IoT architectural elements such as sensors, devices, networks, platforms and applications enablement. Finally we will discuss the IoT technology challenges and potential research topics.
